Newspaper Advertising
captures the attention
And why you should read all about it.
Advertising in newspapers has always been big and despite the explosion of the internet and the associated projected decline in newspaper advertising, will continue to be a medium of choice for advertisers. As with magazines, newspapers enjoy tremendous loyalty. Whilst one can get the news "as it breaks" on a number of websites, TV channels and radio stations, there is nothing like having a physical newspaper in your hands. (If you're a wife, you'll know how deeply-engrossed your husband gets in his daily newspaper at the breakfast table, for instance). Advertisers buy into this and place advertisements in selected publications in an effort to get their products and services noticed, knowing that they have the full attention of an absorbed and engaged reader. More than anything, newspaper advertising creates immediacy. The primary reason why people have newspapers delivered to their homes or buy them at traffic intersections is to get the latest news, and to keep abreast of developments as they happen. With this interest in keeping up with what's new in the world, advertisers have a wonderful opportunity to produce advertising that is topical and which makes full use of the "news angle" provided. (There are a number of South African advertisers who do this well, and as a result, see their brands making the news, along with the news). Added to its potential for topicality, newspaper advertising is largely affordable and can be effectively targeted on a geographical basis. Unless you're a national advertiser, with a large budget, you can buy smaller space ads and enjoy more frequency – with ads running throughout the year. Newspaper advertising doesn't have to take the form of the conventional, however. One could make use of wrap-arounds, or bagging. One could give away product samples via newspaper vendors. Through my affiliation with one of the country's sharpest media planning and buying facilities, I can arrange for your newspaper advertising strategy according to your available budget and book advertising space on your behalf – at no additional cost to you. In the interim, here are a few of my recent newspaper ads. Just to give you an idea of my capabilities.
